The exam
What the test looks like, and how MastaPrep’s independent practice fits around it.
The enhanced ACT has three core sections: English (50 questions, 35 minutes), Math (45 questions, 50 minutes) and Reading (36 questions, 40 minutes). Science (40 questions, 40 minutes) is optional. The sections are not adaptive: the questions do not change based on your answers, and there is a short break after Math.
Each section is scored from 1 to 36, and the composite is the average of English, Math and Reading. Approved accommodations can change timing; the figures above are standard timing. For registration, dates, rules and official results, use ACT’s own information: act.org.
What we do not claim
Lessons follow the ACT’s own reporting categories in English, Math, Reading and Science. English, Reading and Science practice uses full passages, the way the test presents them, and each question comes with its explanation and a note on every wrong answer.
Games build the habits the test rewards: Evidence Hunt trains you to point at the line that proves a Reading answer, and Pace Run puts a real passage on the ACT clock. Your estimated section scores and composite update as you practice.
