The exam
What the test looks like, and how MastaPrep’s independent practice fits around it.
The standard digital SAT® exam has 54 Reading and Writing questions and 44 Math questions. Testing takes 134 minutes, with a 10-minute break between sections. Each section has two modules; later difficulty depends on earlier performance. Time does not carry forward between modules.
Approved accommodations can change timing; the figures above are standard timing. For registration, dates, rules, accommodations and official results, use the College Board’s own information: satsuite.collegeboard.org.
What we do not claim
Work steadily and check your answers within the time each module gives you. Practice suggestions respond to your answers, earlier material comes back through review, and each question you can access includes its explanation.
Today the SAT bank holds 1,550 original practice questions across 78 concepts, plus 1,205 vocabulary words with example sentences, plus full-length practice tests whose details say whether they may repeat questions from ordinary practice.
Plain-English guides to every part of the test, grouped by what you are trying to do. Or try free practice questions first.
