1-Month ACT Study Plan: What to Do in the Final 30 Days

One month is enough to improve your ACT preparation—if you stop trying to study everything equally.

The current ACT Composite uses:

• English;
• Math;
• Reading.

Day 1: take a realistic baseline

Use a current-format ACT practice test.

Record:

• Composite;
• English;
• Math;
• Reading;
• Science if you plan to take it;
• every wrong answer;
• every guessed answer;
• every timing problem.

If your baseline Composite is in the low-to-mid 20s, our ACT 20 to 25 study plan goes deeper on that specific range.

Week 1: fix predictable mistakes

English

Focus on:

• punctuation;
• sentence structure;
• verbs;
• modifiers;
• concision.

Math

Focus on:

• Algebra;
• functions;
• percentages/ratios;
• geometry basics;
• statistics.

Reading

Focus on:

• passage mapping;
• main idea;
• evidence;
• timing.

Week 2: strengthen weak sections

Spend more time on your weakest core section.

Example:

English 30
Math 23
Reading 29

Do not divide study time equally.

Math deserves more attention.

Week 3: timed sections

Current timing:

• English: 50 questions / 35 minutes
• Math: 45 / 50 minutes
• Reading: 36 / 40 minutes
• optional Science: 40 / 40 minutes

Train under the clock.

A skill you know slowly may still cost points on test day.

Week 4: full-test check + final repair

Take a realistic full test early enough that you can review it.

Then target only the remaining repeated errors.

Do not spend the final week relearning topics you already handle reliably.

Science

If you are taking optional Science, prioritize:

• graphs/tables;
• experimental design;
• conflicting viewpoints;
• no-calculator data reasoning.

If you are not taking Science, do not steal time from your Composite sections just because old ACT advice assumes Science is mandatory.

Final 3 days

Reduce study volume.

Focus on:

• short review;
• error log;
• sleep;
• calculator;
• admission ticket/ID;
• route and test-center timing.

Bottom line

The final month should move from:

learning → timed practice → final repair

Do not turn the last 30 days into a panic marathon.
